The sealed polycarbonate lens is sonically welded to the housing to prevent water from entering. The surface mount style does not require the panel cut out as a grommet mount light does. And comes with standard pre wired 8" wire leads. When properly mounted, the light meets DOT, SAE, FMVSS 108, and CMVSS 108 requirements.
